An unemployed young man from MTech and his assistant were arrested by the crime branch for placing bets on IPL cricket matches on mobile phones, a mobile phone from a Samsung company, cash of Rs 19,100 and receipts of bets of lakhs of rupees, a ledger, etc. were seized by the police.
Police said the accused used to bet on cricket bets through bookmakers, the accused placed bets by watching scores and expressions through the Cricket Line Guru app on his mobile phone .
Of the two defendants, Kapil Sharma who is studying in masters of technology and the other defendant Ramavatar alias Raja works as a property dealer.
Information was taken from the accounts of the defendants in which, in case of illegally earned money, measures are taken to freeze them.
The major bookmakers through which the accused bets will be identified and legal action will also be taken against them.
Acting on a tip from two boys placing bets on IPL cricket matches from mobile phones in the settlement of Balaji Dham, Etkhedi was nabbed. The two have been identified as Kapil Sharma (24) and Ramavatar Sharma alias Raja (24).
Kapil is Mr. Tech and is unemployed and revealed that due to lack of work he started placing and accepting bets.
The other defendant Raja is BA and deals in property.
Police are investigating the criminal records of both men and have opened an investigation into the matter.
