Ubisoft announces Rainbow Six Mobile for iOS and Android

When it’s not rolling out new Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege content or adding NFTs to its games, Ubisoft is releasing mobile games. After bringing the popular Brawlhalla fighting game on mobile, the French company is now bringing another of its iconic franchises to Android and iOS devices, Rainbow Six Siege. Announced this week, Rainbow Six Mobile is a free-to-play game available on iOS and Android devices. In a pretty informative blog postUbisoft has revealed that Rainbow Six Mobile will be both a recreation of the Rainbow Six Siege experience on mobile, as well as something completely new.

First off, while the mobile version of Rainbow Six won’t have all of the Operators that Siege now has in its roster, it will have pretty much the same cards. Of course, destruction has been tweaked to make it mobile-friendly, so don’t expect ladders in Rainbow Six Mobile.

Another important aspect discussed in the game announcement is how progression will be handled in Rainbow Six Mobile. Suffice to say, most of the progression is built around cosmetics to avoid giving players willing to invest money in the game an edge over others who won’t.

The game will include an unlock system for Operators, so players will need to save some in-game currency to be able to purchase them. However, Ubisoft also plans to add its own twist to this formula by allowing players to try Operators they don’t yet own, and as they try them, they’ll slowly and permanently unlock and earn them themselves.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that players will be able to use their existing Rainbow accounts through Ubisoft Connect. The shared account will connect players from both games, but since their economies are very different, they will not earn R6 Credits in one game and use them in the other.

Unfortunately, no release date has been announced for the tactical shooter, but we’ll have this one in our sights, so stick around for more on that.
