The mobile exhibition Wreaths Across America makes a stopover in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A nonprofit organization aimed at recognizing the sacrifice of veterans stopped by Eau Claire on Saturday.

Wreaths Across America is a national organization with a mobile educational exhibit that travels the country.

Don Queeney says the goal is to remember the dead and honor those who served while educating the public.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, veterans who served in that conflict who visited the exhibit received a challenge coin and more to honor their service.

Queeney hopes visitors will leave with a better understanding of the nonprofit’s mission.

“The biggest benefit of coming and visiting the Mobile Education Expo, I think, would be a better understanding of what we’re trying to achieve and what we’re trying to achieve is an increased level of patriotism, an increased level education for young people,” said Queeney.

December 17 is National Wreaths Day across America where the group lays wreaths at the graves of veterans.

Queeney says the non-profit organization took out 2.4 million crowns last year and expects to place even more this year.
