Luckily, there are a few handy apps that can help you get around like a breeze. You’ll still have to do the dreaded work of packing your things, changing addresses, and coordinating schedules, but here are a few apps that take care of parts of the move and make your life easier.
1. Avvinue
If you only download one app from this list to help you with your move, please leave Avvinue. When you first download the app, it will show you a short quiz. You’ll tell the app where you’re moving, when you’re moving, how many people are moving, if you have pets, and a few other details.
Once the app has all your information, it will automatically create a checklist for you based on what it thinks you need to do. Of course, this is an automatic process, so you’ll probably need to change a few things or delete some items outright. But for the most part, he does a very good job estimating things to do.
You can also book certain moving services directly through Avvinue, such as pet transportation and shipping services. If you get a quote or book through Avvinue, you can always check the Requests tab to see quotes and orders.

2. Moving boxes
Moving Boxes is great if you want a dedicated app to keep track of all your belongings after you’ve packed them. With an app like this, you’ll never wonder where the pizza cutter or your favorite book is. You’ll be able to search for that item in the app, and it’ll tell you exactly what box number it’s in.
You can sort everything into rooms, keep track of numbered boxes, or both. When entering items in a box, you can type everything separated by commas, and the application will automatically assign each item its own line. You can also take a quick photo of the box for convenience; your future self will thank you.

3. Google Keep
While you can also track moving boxes through Google Keep, this app is best for a generalized moving to-do list. Since Google Keep syncs between multiple Google Accounts if you add a collaborator, you can share the list with your partner so you can both keep track of what’s left to do.
You can keep your note as a traditional blank document, or you can add handy checkboxes to keep track of massive amounts of to-do items while you’re on the go. Once you check an item, it automatically drops to the bottom of the list where you can still see it, but know it’s done.

4. Yapping
Although Google Maps has racked up a lot of business reviews over the years, Yelp is the original app of its kind. When you’re packing your bags in your current city, you already know where all the great restaurants are. But when you’re in a new city, Yelp can help you find your new favorite restaurants.
While takeout is incredibly useful during a stressful move, it’s not the only way Yelp can help. Through Yelp, you can also do a quick search for movers or unpackers to find reputable companies to help with your move.

5. Offer
There’s no better time to review all your stuff when you’re moving. OfferUp is a great way to get rid of items you no longer use and earn some cash while you’re at it.
You can sell larger items, like furniture or large electronics, locally. Or, if you have smaller items that you don’t mind, you can sell them to anyone in the country. You can sell an old streaming stick, that fancy graphing calculator you no longer use for school, or even something like an old shirt you no longer wear.

6. Move quickly
The Shyft Moving app is a convenient way to get a moving estimate without someone coming to your house. You can do absolutely everything from your phone.
When you download the app, you will need to fill in some basic information. Then you will see a screen saying “You are ready!” and you’re free to set up your video call with a Move advisor. Your home does not need to be clean before the call; the moving consultant just needs to be able to take inventory of the furniture and the approximate number of boxes you have.

7. magic plane
This type of app won’t be for everyone, but if you’re building your own house or are really curious to see how well your current furniture will fit in your new place, check out the magicplan app. You can completely replicate your floor plan in this app, with intricate details like ceiling height.
While this app is certainly handy for anyone renovating a home, it’s also incredibly useful for people moving into a new home. If you have a way of estimating the floor plan of where you’re planning to move, it’s a great way to make sure all your furniture will fit before you get there so you know what items you could have to sell.

Moving doesn’t have to be stressful
When you tell people you’re moving, you probably get a lot of “Oh, I’m sorry.” or “Oof, stressful time, isn’t it?” It’s no secret that moving is not something we want on our to-do list.
