Subway Surfers at Apex Legends Mobile: Top 5 Most Downloaded Mobile Games in the World | News

Sybo Games’ Subway Surfers was the most downloaded mobile game in the world in May 2022 with 30 million installs, which represents an increase of 86.5% compared to May 2021. The countries with the most installs in the game during this period were India with about 15% of its total downloads and the United States at more than 14%, reports Sensor Tower.

Garena Free Fire by Garena was the second most installed mobile game in the world last month with 26 million installs, representing a 50.3% increase from May 2021. Supersonic Studios’ Tall Man Run, Apex EA’s Mobile Legends and Voodoo’s Deliver It 3D on the top five most installed mobile games worldwide for the month.

The global mobile games market generated 4.8 billion downloads on the App Store and Google Play in May 2022, marking a decline of around 1% year-over-year. The No. 1 market for global game downloads was India, which racked up 916 million installs, or 19.2% of total global downloads. The United States ranked second for downloads at 8.4%, followed by Brazil at 7.9%.

Subway Surfers had its best month of downloads in May as the title celebrated its 10th anniversary since its release last month. The occasion also sparked a 6.3x increase in Y/Y player spending to $5.9 million – another record high.

Meanwhile, the world’s highest-grossing mobile game in May 2022 was Tencent’s Honor of Kings with around $268 million in player spending, which represented a growth of 1.7% from May 2021. Around 95 % of Honor of Kings revenue came from China, followed by 1.7 percent from Taiwan and 1.7 percent from Thailand.

Tencent’s PUBG Mobile was the world’s second highest earning mobile game in May 2022 with $206.3 million in gross revenue. Around 67% of PUBG Mobile’s revenue came from China, where it was localized as Game For Peace, followed by 6.4% from Turkey. The next highest-grossing game was King’s Candy Crush Saga, followed by miHoYo’s Genshin Impact and Moon Active’s Coin Master.
