People mostly use e-commerce mobile apps to receive discounts, but businesses need to be careful to avoid price wars

WASHINGTON, May 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — According to clutch researchthe leading B2B research, assessment and assessment company.

Clutch surveyed 501 consumers to find out how they use mobile e-commerce apps in 2019.

While discounts or coupons may initially motivate a download, experts warn companies to also focus on developing a sustainable, long-term mobile app strategy. Otherwise, app users won’t add long-term value to your business.

“What happens when the [in-app] experience isn’t great?” said Alex Levinfounding partner of Levin and Riegner, a digital design and mobile development agency. “Or when your prices still don’t beat everyone else’s; or house prices go up and you actually can’t afford [that deal] anymore and you don’t make any more money?”

Customers want to browse e-commerce apps

More than half of people also use e-commerce apps to compare products and prices (54%) and have shopping flexibility (54%).

Experts recommend companies develop navigable apps to drive engagement and spend.

“People often forget that shopping was never just about buying the things you know you want,” said Apu GuptaCEO of priest, a mobile and social commerce company. “One of the biggest reasons people buy is the thrill of the find.”

For customers to experience the “thrill of discovery”, companies need to develop navigable e-commerce applications.

Companies should develop e-commerce application features that best match customer needs

Only nine percent (9%) of restaurant app shoppers use the app to receive product recommendations, compared to 34% of pure online retail app users.

Experts say the most successful mobile e-commerce efforts are the result of developing apps that mirror the product being sold and how customers typically interact with the product.

“Have you ever walked into a McDonald’s and asked for a recommendation? said Gupta. “Honestly, you go to a McDonald’s and you know what you want.”

Businesses should understand what consumers are likely to expect from a mobile e-commerce app before beginning development and should be willing to consult with app development experts to ensure their app matches the products being sold. .
