Hangouts mobile apps for Android and iOS are no longer

Those Hangouts mobile apps for Android and iOS are no more! They have ceased to be! They expired and left to meet their creator! Monty Python intros aside, it looks like Google has finally started delivering its promise to kill Hangouts.

And while there’s still a little time for Hangouts… to hang out (pun intended), mobile apps have started shutting down, as reported 9to5Google. Google plans to completely drop the Hangouts brand this fall, with the hangouts.google.com client remaining available until October 2022.

People still using Hangouts (on desktop) will get a one-month warning when the time comes, and the final tombstone will be laid in November. A few days ago, Google has urged Hangouts users to start migrating to Chat, and there are step-by-step instructions on how to do so.

Well it’s been a long time, and no one’s really surprised anymore but it’s sad to see Google being Google and sending all these things to the Google Graveyard (this place is packed, I tell you!).
