Government Launches Revamped CGHS Website, MyCGHS Mobile App, Adds New Features – Here Are 7 New Updates

The government today launched the revamped Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) website (www.cghs.gov.in) and the MyCGHS mobile app today. The move is aimed at increasing India’s digital penetration, according to a government statement.

The revamped weside has updated features and is expected to benefit 40,000 beneficiaries – both serving and retired staff – with real-time information from the comfort of their homes, according to claims made by the government.

The revamped MyCGHS website and app were launched by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.

“The launch of the revamped CGHS website linked to a mobile app is an important and timely step in addressing India’s growing digital penetration,” Mandaviya said.

The Minister of Health added that the basket of services is expanded with the revamped website which also offers teleconsultation functionality.

The new CGHS website and its extension as a mobile application called MyCGHS, with various user-friendly features for beneficiaries, has been designed to facilitate the delivery of services for beneficiaries within the safe confines of their homes, especially during the COVID pandemic, according to the government statement.

The different features of the enhanced CGHS website are as follows:

  1. The website has been developed in accordance with the GIGW (Indian Government Website Guidelines). These standards and guidelines make the website 3U compliant, i.e. usable, user-centric and universally accessible.
  2. As mandated by the GIGW, the site has been made bilingual (Hindi and English) with provisions to make it multilingual in the future.
  3. The website interface is intuitive and provides easy access to the desired information. An extensive search function has been provided to access the content of the website.
  4. User-friendly features have been added for the visually impaired, such as audio playback of text and the ability to increase font size.
  5. There is a direct link to the eSanjeevani teleconsultation facility via the CGHS website.
  6. The website provides a link to the online grievance portal developed for CGHS beneficiaries with a provision for the grievance to be sent directly to the relevant officer with an SMS and email alert to the relevant officer for prompt handling of complaints.
  7. The website also contains a link to beneficiary login to access various online facilities such as medical claims tracking, claims, CGHS card status, CGHS card download, access to medication history, online appointment system and various other facilities.

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is the nodal healthcare provider for central government employees, pensioners and certain other categories of beneficiaries and their dependents enrolled in the scheme. It responds to the health needs of eligible beneficiaries covering the four pillars of the democracy established in India, namely the legislature, the judiciary, the executive and the press.
