Cardano-Based Projects Empowa and World Mobile Launch NFT Collaboration
The joint NFT will finance the construction of affordable housing and a decentralized Internet in Africa.
Empowaa project offering decentralized and affordable home loans to financially excluded people, has partnered with Global mobilethe world’s first blockchain-based mobile network based on the sharing economy.
This collaboration aims to provide life-changing solutions to underbanked and unconnected parts of the world by providing access to affordable housing and reliable internet connectivity.
Empowa is raising funds to invest in the construction of houses in the port city of Beira, Mozambique. These homes will provide the backbone and marketplace where the World Mobile team and local entrepreneurs can work together to install AirNodes and deliver reliable, affordable Internet connectivity to the mass market.
World Mobile and Empowa are both cutting-edge projects based on the Cardano blockchain, were first introduced as members of the Blockchain4Good collective, and have a common mission to build financially sustainable businesses for social impact using the web 3.0 technology.
Mozambique’s population is over 30 million, but there are only 600 mortgages in the country. Empowa uses NFT unique way to overcome this constraint.
The funds raised through this RealFi NFT are invested in addressing systemic failures in the financial sector and providing affordable home loans for financially excluded people. These eco-friendly houses are not only affordable, but also resistant to cyclones.
Currently, nearly 80% of houses in Beira are threatened by such disasters because they are self-built,
with poor quality materials and improper construction techniques.
