Battlegrounds Mobile India Update 1.8 Now Live: Here’s What’s New

Krafton has released a new update for Battlegrounds Mobile India. The January v1.8 update includes a number of changes and new additions to the popular Battle Royal shooter. Here’s everything new with the update that’s rolling out to Android and iOS devices.

Livik: Consequences game mode

The new update comes with a new mode Livik: Aftermath which will be available until February 14, 2022. “The geography of the island has completely changed after the volcano erupted and the snow melted,” said Krafton in a press release.

“Players can rush for surprises, as they battle their enemies in a completely revamped Livik map! Players can also quickly move between spots thanks to the multiple zipline spots that appear on the map.

As part of the update, various new events are also being added to the game. Players will also get rank protection once per day for playing in the new mode.

Normal and ranked matchmaking now separate

Battlegrounds Mobile India introduces a major matchmaking change to the game. Players can now choose between two matchmaking modes: Normal Matchmaking and Ranked Matchmaking.

The former allows players to play the game without affecting their Season Tier, while a Ranked mode will raise or lower your Tier Rank based on performance. The changes will affect a variety of modes such as Classic Modes, Arena Modes, and other special EvoGround Modes.

Supply stores

Players will also now find Supply Shops across the map in Classic Mode, where they can exchange looted parts for supply items.

“In fact, there are also revive items scattered throughout all of the theme modes that allow you to summon defeated teammates after they’ve been eliminated,” Krafton added.

Swim when knocked out, other changes

Battlegrounds Mobile India will also allow eliminated players to swim in water, which was not possible before. However, eliminated players will not be able to swim as fast as they normally would.

The game also comes with new UI elements to make it “cleaner and more intuitive”. Enemies hit by the player or their team will also be automatically marked now.

“Finally, there will be massive improvements to the parachute mechanics when landing, with all new tools to mark when you want to fall on the map! All of this and more to come in 1.8.

Players of Battlegrounds Mobile India can head over to Google Play Store or Apple App Store to download the latest version 1.8 January update of the game right now.
