New Delhi: Aadhaar card has become one of the crucial documents required to avail the services offered by private and government agencies. However, to take advantage of a few services, especially those offered digitally, cardholders need to update their phone numbers linked to the Aadhaar card.
So, if you have changed your number, you need to update the phone number linked to your Aadhaar card. Otherwise, you might run into problems.
For example, most banking apps require online verification of Aadhaar details via OTP. If you do not have access to the phone number linked to the Aadhaar card, you will not be able to verify the details. Therefore, it is recommended to keep your Aadhaar card details up to date.
For the uninitiated, the Aadhaar card is a unique 12-digit identity number provided to cardholders. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues the Aadhaar card in India. The statutory body also manages updates related to Aadhaar Card.
Here is how to update mobile number on Aadhaar
Step 1: Visit your nearby Aadhaar Registration Center after booking an appointment online through the official UIDAI website at https://uidai.gov.in/. You can directly visit the online booking portal directly at https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/bookappointment.aspx. On the homepage, select the location and proceed to Book an Appointment at UIDAI to perform Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Step 2: Take the Aadhaar Update/Correction Form and fill in the details.
Step 3: Share the form with Aadhaar Executive at Aadhaar Registration Center.
Step 4: Pay for the service.
Step 5: The agent will share an acknowledgment with the URN.
